Our Clients

Who we help

Satkoski Occupational Therapy primarily serves adults and older adults who are experiencing difficulty with everyday activities, mobility, safety, or participation in meaningful routines.

A formal diagnosis is not always necessary for someone to benefit from an occupational therapy evaluation. Services may be helpful when an individual or family has noticed changes in independence, confidence, safety, strength, balance, or endurance.

Neurological Conditions

Occupational therapy may support individuals experiencing functional challenges related to:

Stroke

Traumatic brain injury

Parkinson's disease

Dementia

Treatment is tailored to the client’s current abilities, home environment, support system, and personal goals.

Orthopedic & Postsurgical Recovery

Satkoski Occupational Therapy works with clients recovering from orthopedic injuries or procedures, including:

Frozen shoulder

Total knee replacement

Total hip replacement

Shoulder arthroplasty

Treatment may focus on safely resuming self-care, household activities, mobility, exercise, and community participation.

Complex Medical & Self-Management Needs

Services may also address functional needs associated with:

Burns

Colostomy management
Ileostomy management
Other medical conditions that affect daily activity performance
Allison’s prior clinical experience includes working with orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, and oncological conditions in acute-care, skilled-nursing, home-health, and outpatient settings.

Home Safety, Balance & Fall Risk

Occupational therapy may be appropriate for individuals who:
Have fallen or are concerned about falling
Feel unsteady while walking or completing daily activities
Have difficulty getting in or out of a bed, chair, shower, or vehicle
Have experienced a decline in strength or endurance
Need help selecting or learning to use adaptive equipment
Want to remain safely and independently in their home
Need recommendations for changes to their home environment
Have become less active because of fear, fatigue, or reduced confidence

Family Members & Caregivers

Satkoski Occupational Therapy also works collaboratively with family members and caregivers.

Caregiver training can help families better understand how to support a loved one’s safety and independence while reducing unnecessary assistance, confusion, and physical strain.
